“Supporting the Youth of Aurora”
On June 12 th , 2025, our club turned 40!!! To start the celebration, we joined up with the Car Rally group on Sunday May 25 th and provided lunch for around 100 people, who either participated in the rally or were volunteers the day of. Thank you to the committee for having us there.
Next, we had an event at the Farmers Market, which was co-ordinated by Sandy Bundy. The event was held on Saturday June 14 th. Sandy and her crew of volunteers were on hand to help 70+ youth in Aurora plant some seeds and decorate some pots to take home. Sandy named the event Growing with Optimism. How great was that!!!
Our final celebration was the 40 th Anniversary Dinner held at the Legion on Thursday August 28 th . It was well attended by 64 guests including alumni, current members and a few Charter members (Alex Ansell, Ken McIsaac, Neville Gynan and George Gonsalves). We couldn’t ask for a better group of people to celebrate with.
Alex brought along quite a bit of memorabilia, and one real important point was mind blowing in the sense that over these 40 years we have contributed over $2.5 million to supporting youth in Aurora. We work hard year after year but we never really stop and think just how important our club is to our community.
To all our members, thank you for participating and volunteering your assistance at these events, your presence made it fun.
I want to thank Bonnie Robertson and her crew at the Legion for their support getting this dinner off the ground, we could not have done such a great job without you.
Also, a big thank you so much to the committee who voted me Chair, Deb Finniear, Sandra Watson, Sandy Bundy and Maggie Thornton. It was fun and your input was greatly appreciated.
